This season, McGrath made her house debut as an apprentice artist with Sarasota Opera, where she covered Barbarina in Le nozze di Figaro under the baton of Louis Lohraseb, in addition to performing excerpts from Mozart’s Così fan tutte, Donizetti’s Don Pasquale, and operatic rarities by Bellini (La straniera) and Verdi (Aroldo). She returns to her native New York to originate the role of Maria in the world premiere of Dan Asia’s The Tin Angel with Teatro Grattacielo, before heading to France for the second edition of Cévennes Lyriques International Opera Festival.
Ms. McGrath’s 2024 season included “The Life of Spring: A Recital of French Art Songs” with L’Opera Comique de Washington, her role debut as Adina in Donizetti’s L’elisir d’amore with Teatro Grattacielo’s Young Artist Series, a summer concert series with Light Opera of New Jersey, and Pergolesi’s Stabat Mater with Garden State Opera.
Victoria’s opera credits include L’elisir d’amore (Adina), La bohème (Musetta), Proving Up (Littler Daughter), Don Giovanni (Zerlina), Suor Angelica (Suor Genovieffa), and Die Zauberflöte (Pamina, Papagena, and 2nd Spirit). She has also performed excerpts from Carmen, Luisa Fernanda, Il viaggio a Reims, La fille du régiment, Le nozze di Figaro, and Die Fledermaus, among others.
A lover of art song and an avid recitalist, she has collaborated with Baltimore Musicales, sung programs of Ukrainian songs with Aquilon Music Festival, curated recitals for Easton Art Academy and the Columbus Citizens Foundation, and performed French selections with the French Choir of Washington DC & the Choir of the Embassy of France, under the direction of Simon Charette.

A multifaceted musician and advocate for new music, McGrath is no stranger to world premieres. In addition to Dan Asia’s The Tin Angel, Victoria also premiered a new setting of Ave Maria by the critically acclaimed organist and composer Daniel Ficarri. Their original recording subsequently aired on Christ Cathedral’s radio program, “Music from the Tower.” She has performed and covered roles in Missy Mazzoli’s Proving Up, Paul Davies’ Ourland, John Musto’s Later the Same Evening, and Justine F. Chen’s The Life and Death(s) of Alan Turing.
Victoria discovered her love for music at an early age, when she joined her church’s children’s choir. She has been a devoted church musician ever since and has been fortunate to sing with Catholic and Lutheran communities throughout New York City and in Washington DC. Most recently, Ms. McGrath served as a cantor, section leader, and member of the schola cantorum at the Shrine of the Most Blessed Sacrament in DC. She has been a featured soloist and member of the chamber ensemble at the Church of St. Paul the Apostle in Manhattan, a regular cantor at Holy Child Jesus Church and St. Benedict Joseph Labre in Queens, and a substitute cantor at multiple parishes in the Archdiocese of Brooklyn and Queens, including the Cathedral Basilica of St. James and the Basilica of Regina Pacis.
Ms. McGrath has received finalist awards from the Jensen Foundation and FAVA Grand Concours, in addition to competing as a semifinalist in Opera at Florham, the Camille Coloratura Awards, and MIOpera’s Competition. Victoria holds an MM in Opera Performance from the University of Maryland, and a BM in Vocal Performance and BA in History from Macaulay Honors College at CUNY Queens College, where she received a full tuition scholarship and graduated magna cum laude. She has studied Italian at the Università per Stranieri di Perugia and German at Freie Universität Berlin, NYU’s Deutsches Haus, and Musiktheater Bavaria. She studies with the world-renowned bass baritone Kevin Short.
